There wasn't any clues about IGH in that nowhere little town, of course there wasn't. Trish remains uncertain whether or not she wants to kiss Nick Fury or punch him.

She is overjoyed to have Bruce back of course, and maybe it's not the wisest thing in the world to look this particular gift horse in the mouth, but part of her does wish they could have gotten back together without anyone meddling.

Part of her wishes Bruce would have chosen to come home, or at least get in touch.

Be that as it may, she is still happier that she has been in a long time, and now they are pulling up outside a tiny little cabin far away from absolutely everything. Trish has to laugh when she sees it.

"You weren't messing around with the whole isolation thing. This place must be completely off the grid."

No electricity, no indoor plumbing. Damn, she is too prissy for this.

She gets out of the car and walks around to the trunk, still good-naturedly "complaining".

"And you had to pick somewhere cold, too."

Bruce is a little bit on the fence on that himself. On the one hand, he knows it would've taken him weeks or months to so much as get in touch with her if she hadn't found him; on the other, the knowledge that SHIELD managed to track him down and keep tabs on him so easily worried him - as it always had.

Right now, though? He couldn't care any less about that. The prospect of spending some time with Trish in the middle of absolutely nowhere is far too delightful, exciting too considering what they had agreed to try while they're here.

Of course, it seems that the weather is a little colder than what he was expecting, but... oh well, what can you do.

"It's nice like this, though, isn't it? No one will bother us here."

And they've brought more than enough food to last them a couple of weeks, so they have some margin on how long they stick around. If something runs out, they can just go on a roadtrip to the nearest small town.

He climbs out of the car too, smiling as he starts helping her unload the trunk.

"To be fair, the weather was really nice the last time I was up here." Canada, though. He should've known better. "But there's a basic heating system - plus, a fireplace. So we can get that whole 'crackling fire in the early morning' vibe that you like."

"I'm just saying, you'll be getting the bath water from the creek."

No, not really, of course she'll do her part. This place is exactly what they need it to be, and hopefully going this far off grid may even make it harder for SHIELD to keep an eye on them.

God knows she is currently appreciative of the fact that her cell doesn't work out here.

They've got a satelite phone for emergencies but hopefully that won't be needed.

"Who even came up with the idea to build a house out here?"

She shrugs on a backpack and grabs a couple of other bags in her hands, and then heads for the door.

"It's not that bad, you know. We do have electricity and running water. No need to go out and hunt our own meat either."

He jokes a little, as he takes out his own luggage, a camping backpack where he's managed to fit everything in. He's practical and compact like that, and he's learned not to take up a lot of space or keep too many things.

He is glad about the phone situation too. Not that it'd make much of a difference in his case - he did get a cellphone when they went by New York briefly, but it's not like anyone besides Trish has the number yet. He didn't even bother bringing it with him.

"Canada's crawling with remote little huts like this. Quiet and isolated. Some people enjoy these kinds of vacations."

He definitely appreciates it, at least. Much nicer than some ski or beach resort packed full of tourists.

Grabbing as many bags and boxes of food as he can, he starts carrying them into the house, finding the door unlocked just like the owners had told him he would.

The place isn't too impressive, but it's pretty nice and welcoming. There's a large open area with a kitchen and an island by one corner, a small dining table with four chairs, a couple of soft warm couches set up right in front of a fireplace, while a bed hides behind a divider, still in the same room. The one door leads to the bathroom, which is small but has an amazing and large bathtub - probably the fanciest-looking thing in the entire house, along with the heating system installed on some of the walls.

She drops her bags near the bed and just goes for a quick look around, more or less instantly falling in love with the place.

No, it's not her usual style but she is buying it in her head anyway. How expensive can it be?

The bathroom definitely gets her approval, and she calls out to Bruce who is probably being practical and actually unpacking things.

"Okay I know this is bad timing but honey? I'm leaving you for this tub."

She's right, he is being practical. Setting down the boxes of food on the counter, he's taking things out one by one and putting them away, especially the perishables, so he can get them into the fridge and freezer.

When she calls out, though, he stops, going over and peering into the bathroom. He'd seen pictures of the place, actually, but it's still pretty impressive seeing it firsthand.

"What? Baby, no," he manages a mock whining tone, still grinning. The use of that particular pet name makes it obvious he's not serious, though he's sure she would be able to tell either way. "I love you more than this thing ever could."

She would be able to tell, but the fact that he just called her baby still makes it about a million times funnier.

She puts a hand on her hip and gives him a very fake look of disapproval.

"Yes but can you envelop me in deliciously hot water? I don't think so."

Keeping on with the silliness, Bruce waggles his eyebrows once, holding his hands out as he takes a step closer to her.

"No, but I can envelop you in delicious me."

Yep, he feels immensely ridiculous saying that.

"No bathtub could ever do that for you."

As he should because wow, Bruce, wow.

Shaking her head and grinning she walks right up to him, takes his hands and steps closer still so that she can kiss him.

"Okay clearly I need to shut your mouth now."

What? He has an amazing and flexible sense of humor.

Leaning in, he returns the kiss, smiling amusedly at her words when he pulls back.

"Well, I would take that to heart, but... I can't say I mind your methods much."

She leans in for another kiss, lingering a while longer with her lips against his because she too is a pretty big fan of her own methods here, actually.

"Okay, I need to stop this or unpacking is not going to happen for a while."

She's not saying that she'll jump him if she keeps kissing him but...

She'll totally jump him.

He has to agree there, it's a little difficult to resist the kisses, and his own lips linger on hers, pressing more presently until she eventually pulls away.

"Right. We really... should. I mean, at least the food."

He'd rather just get everything put away and organized before anything else, otherwise the food is never going to leave the boxes, and their clothes will stay in their backpacks for the whole time they're here.

One last quick peck, and he pulls away completely, going over to the controls for the heating system and turning it on first, then heading back to the kitchenette to finish putting away the food.

Aww, what a considerate boyfriend.

Trish takes her jacket off and hangs it before she makes her way over to the bags and starts unpacking her stuff, putting it all away in wardrobes and cupboards, enjoying the feeling of making the space theirs.

It feels like a pretty good test drive for when they're going to try to live together in New York.

"This was a really good idea."

Even if they end up not trying to see how far Bruce can actually go, it's still so nice to just... be somewhere in their own little bubble.

Well, she did say it was cold. They can save the fireplace for later, though. Maybe during dinner it will feel nice to light it up.

He unpacks the box with perishables first, putting away whatever dairy products they've brought, along with some meat and fish, vegetables and some of the fruit, neatly organizing it all in the fridge and freezer. It's not too big, but it's more than enough for just the two of them, and with that done, he unpacks the rest of the dry foods, finding space around the cupboards and on top of the counters, finally piling up the boxes and putting them away.

"I'm feeling pretty proud of it myself, I'll be honest."

Grabbing his backpack, he starts doing the same with his own clothes, finding a drawer for himself and easily fitting what little he brought in there. His toiletry bag he sets down on top of the dresser drawer, a pair of sneakers and some slippers on the floor next to it, and finally he shoves his backpack into a corner of the closet.

It feels homely, in a way. It's a strange sensation, he'll admit, but it's a nice one.

"I feel like the essential material girl right now, I have about five times the stuff that you do."

Said as she flops down on the bed to test it. Yes good, it is like lying on a cloud if clouds were actually as fluffy and delicious to lie down on as they look like they would be.

"Mmm, this is a good bed."

"Well, I do tend to pack light, so don't feel too bad about that."

He's brought the bare essentials with him, not just in terms of toiletry, but also clothes and even shoes. Lucky for him there's a fully functional washer, or he'd likely have to wash his underwear by hand.

Sitting down on the mattress too, he lies back next to her, shifting around a little and nodding with a hum.

"It is. Which is a good thing, because this is the kind of stuff you can't tell from pictures."

She kicks her shoes off and pulls her legs up, turning on her side so she can look at him.

"You look good in it. This place is definitely a keeper."

He follows her lead, toeing his own shoes off and crossing his legs, hands resting over his own chest as he keeps his head turned to the side to look at her.

"Yes? Well, we can come whenever you want. Pretty sure it's not used often."

"I'm gonna make it ours."

He really does look stupidly good like that, relaxed and handsome and happy. She is one lucky woman.

"What?"

His tone is soft and quiet, though, and he's smiling a little even as he knits his eyebrows together.

"You're not going to do something crazy like buying it, are you?"

"You mean am I going to do something genius like buying it?"

She wriggles closer to him so that she can throw an arm over his stomach.

"Yes."

He chuckles, settling an arm around her too, as he shifts a little closer to her. He kind of wants to protest out of principle, but... he knows how stubborn she can get, and besides, it's her money to do as she pleases.

Not to mention that it really is a great place. Bruce can't honestly claim he'd mind her owning it, so they could come and go as they pleased.

"Yes. Definitely crazy."

"You love it."

She slings a leg over his as well to have him mor properly wrapped up in her, and kisses his cheek.

"This will be a very special place you know. I don't want anyone else to have it."

"Comes with the package, so yes. Yes, I do."

Turning to face her, he shifts closer still, more or less burying his face in the curve of her neck, his arm curling tighter around her middle.

"Well, when you put it like that..."

He gets it. And he likely won't feel like parting with the place either, if their time together here really goes well.

She loves it when he presses his face against her neck like that, as if she can somehow be a shield from everything that troubles him. She would really like to be able to do that for him. To give him some peace.

She holds him a little tighter as well, closing her eyes while she simply enjoys the stillness.

"No matter what happens."

Even if they learn that they will never be as physically intimate as they want to be, she still feels that this will be a good time for them. An opportunity to just be close without worrying about anything else.

Because what better way to spend some time before class
