He likes the sound of that, how it spills from her lips. It doesn't even shock him to hear it, there's no moment of tension or hesitation at what that word implies, and his response is both genuine and thoughtless.
It's a nice change, the way he doesn't tense up or get worried about making a committment to staying together. Not that she ever thought that he wasn't committed (apart from when he left...) but there has always been that fear in him. The sense that he doesn't deserve to br happy.
She is so glad to see that maybe he is starting to realise that he does.
"Good. I want to make you happy, Bruce. You deserve to be."
Deserving and wanting are two very different things. Chances are he will always feel like he doesn't completely deserve what Trish gives him, be it love, time, physical affection or a number of other things, but he wants it all anyway. God, he wants it like he doesn't remember ever wanting something in his life.
He wants her, more than anything. More than anyone.
"And I want you to be happy. I want... to be the one to make you happy."
That's a change - that's the change. Because he always wanted those he loved to be happy, he just believed they would be happier without having him around. But now he starts to believe that he can actually be a part of that happiness, or even the source of it.
He wants to be happy, and at long last he gets that he is the one who can make that happen. Trish feels like shouting it from some mountaintop or something.
Bruce Banner finally gets that her life is miserable without him.
"You do."
She turns around a little to kiss his jaw, and then settles back against his chest.
Well, for a genius he can be kind of slow sometimes, but he usually gets there. Right now he's just glad that he opened his eyes before it was too late, this time around.
"Good."
He smiles, tipping his head to kiss her cheek in return, his hands brushing lightly over her stomach.
"Now I just have to be sure I keep making you happy."
"Just exist in my general direction and you've got it covered."
Bruce's presence just makes everything better. They don't have to talk, or even look at each other. That's the best part. They can both just quietly be doing their own things, and yet everything somehow becomes more enjoyable just because she can feel that he is near.
"Hmm, good. Then I'll give those some thought too."
He might not be the most practiced when it comes to romantic gestures, but damn it, if he's so smart, he has to be able to come up with some good ideas, right?
She grabs the shower gel standing on a convenient little shelf, glad that someone remembered to unpack it before they got distracted, and puts a little in her hand before she picks up one of his hands and starts to gently massage it.
"You know. Part of me kind of wishes that we could just live here for a while. I mean, more long term."
It is pretty impressive that they managed to keep their hands off each other long enough to unpack, though if Bruce had known an orgasm was in his very near future, he likely wouldn't have been as diligent about it. He's glad he was, though, and he sighs softly as she starts to carefully knead his hand.
"That's a nice thought, but it would make for one hell of a commute."
For the both of them - not like Bruce is going to find any work in the area of physics in the Middle of Nowhere, Canada.
"I've lived in some places like this, actually. It's not so bad."
This time he lets her just spread the gel in his hand, then he presses it to her front, slowly spreading the suds over her collarbones and down to her chest.
"Not so bad for a guy who can sit around and meditate all day."
It is a well established fact at this point that Bruce is far, far better at being patient than Trish will ever be, though her perspective is more that nothing would ever get done if she didn't give her man a bit of a nudge every now and then.
"Well, just because I can doesn't mean that I do."
He does like keeping busy these days, working and doing something useful with himself. Even on the run he always tried to find work where he could, and it wasn't always because he needed the money. Getting a job in his field of work will only make him even more dedicated. Chances are she'll have to actually call him once or twice just so he doesn't lose track of time.
While one hand spreads the gel down her front, he holds out his other hand in front of her.
Oh, she will. She has a great deal of respect for being dedicated to your craft, but she also has quite an interest in getting to take baths together with her boyfriend, or having him in her bed with her when she goes to sleep, or cooking dinner together. So he'll get called.
And he will also get his request for shower gel filled.
"Yeah, yeah, Yoda."
Nope, that nickname is never going to go away. Especially not since she's not actually criticising him in any way here, really.
Well, yes, he will enjoy those things immensely too, so if he ever ends up getting a little too distracted, he does appreciate the gentle tug back to reality.
He chuckles at the nickname, letting out a small whine as his second hand joins the other, slowly soaping up her body. And naturally enjoying touching her all over in the process.
"I honestly hope you don't imagine me as a tiny wrinkled green guy whenever you call me that."
She is very much enjoying being touched all over as well, pleased sighs leaving her every now and then when his hands brush over a particularly sensitive area.
He stares back at her for a second or two, then draws his hands away, propping his elbows on the edge of the tub and just leaning back, his head even dropping a little.
"Well then, I guess I'm too old to do anything else today. Especially after I've already had one orgasm. I mean, I should probably be having my nap now, or sitting around watching Wheel of Fortune."
She feels a bit like whining when his hands leave her body, but she more or less asked for it, so instead she just turns around so that her front is pressed against him instead, winding her arms around his neck.
"Can't expect you to keep up with a young and spry lover, it's true."
He does like that change in position very much, but he still lets his arms stay as they are, his expression looking as plain and unimpressed as can be.
"Young and spry? You're not that much younger than me, just so you know."
Okay maybe she kind of is. But he's still far from an old man, both physically and mentally.

"I can get used to that, too."

She is so glad to see that maybe he is starting to realise that he does.

"Really? Not even flowers and chocolates on Valentine's day? Romantic trip on our five year anniversary?"
no subject
Yes, romantic gestures will most likely completely melt her heart even if she'll try to act cool about it.
no subject
He might not be the most practiced when it comes to romantic gestures, but damn it, if he's so smart, he has to be able to come up with some good ideas, right?

She lazily strokes the side of his thigh, completely relaxed and content.
"I'm not weighing too heavily on you, am I?"
no subject
He's joking, obviously. The only reward he wants or needs is to see her happy. Though he'll never say no to any other rewards he gets.
"What? No. No, your weight is just perfect."
no subject
"You know. Part of me kind of wishes that we could just live here for a while. I mean, more long term."

"That's why I said part of me."
Then she grabs to shower gel again to start giving his other hand the same treatment.
"I'd go crazy."
no subject
This time he lets her just spread the gel in his hand, then he presses it to her front, slowly spreading the suds over her collarbones and down to her chest.
"But I agree, it would drive you crazy."
no subject

Or a shove. Or a swift kick in the butt.
