"I'm gonna make it ours."

He really does look stupidly good like that, relaxed and handsome and happy. She is one lucky woman.

"What?"

His tone is soft and quiet, though, and he's smiling a little even as he knits his eyebrows together.

"You're not going to do something crazy like buying it, are you?"

"You mean am I going to do something genius like buying it?"

She wriggles closer to him so that she can throw an arm over his stomach.

"Yes."

He chuckles, settling an arm around her too, as he shifts a little closer to her. He kind of wants to protest out of principle, but... he knows how stubborn she can get, and besides, it's her money to do as she pleases.

Not to mention that it really is a great place. Bruce can't honestly claim he'd mind her owning it, so they could come and go as they pleased.

"Yes. Definitely crazy."

"You love it."

She slings a leg over his as well to have him mor properly wrapped up in her, and kisses his cheek.

"This will be a very special place you know. I don't want anyone else to have it."

"Comes with the package, so yes. Yes, I do."

Turning to face her, he shifts closer still, more or less burying his face in the curve of her neck, his arm curling tighter around her middle.

"Well, when you put it like that..."

He gets it. And he likely won't feel like parting with the place either, if their time together here really goes well.

She loves it when he presses his face against her neck like that, as if she can somehow be a shield from everything that troubles him. She would really like to be able to do that for him. To give him some peace.

She holds him a little tighter as well, closing her eyes while she simply enjoys the stillness.

"No matter what happens."

Even if they learn that they will never be as physically intimate as they want to be, she still feels that this will be a good time for them. An opportunity to just be close without worrying about anything else.

She does, actually. She gives him more peace and love than he even remembers feeling, a shelter from all the bad things that every so often still well up inside him like a brewing storm. She's that calm in the dead center, and when he's with her, everything is peaceful and still.

Sometimes, he feels almost like he has nothing at all inside him. No poisoned blood, no roaring monster. Just a heart full of her.

"No matter what... I'll still love you."

And he knows she will too, even if he would never ask her to stay, if she didn't want to. If she just wanted to walk away someday.

With Bruce Trish feels something she only ever really does when she is either completely alone and locked inside her fortress of an apartment, or when she's with Jessica. She feels safe.

She isn't afraid of my anymore, she says, but there is somehow a difference between the armour she has built for herself and the calm sense of peace that she finds when she is together with him like this.

"I will always love you."

Even if they break up again some day, even if she moves on, she will still love him. Of this there is no doubt in her mind.

He has become a part of her, one she will always treasure no matter where their paths will lead them.

As long as Bruce is around, and he can personally make sure of it, she will be safe. If that involves having to transform to get her out of a tough situation, then so be it. He's not planning on getting back to any teams of superheroes or anything, but that doesn't mean he'd just sit back if she happened to be in trouble. Especially considering this new development of her running around the city in that yellow costume.

"I know."

She's always made it more than clear, in words and gestures, reminding him time and again. Even if at times he doesn't think he deserves it.

Smiling, he brushes his nose along her jaw, tipping his head up and kissing her softly on the lips.

It is bad of her, considering how much he hates it, but in a strange sort of way the Hulk does make her feel safe, in the same way as her security system and panic room does.

Bruce is about as close as one can get to being invincible and yes, some primal part of her responds to that. It's not something she is particularly proud of, fiercely independent as she is, but it cannot be denied that she is a person who likes protection, and now, well... now she's got it.

She kisses him back, feeling the sting of tears in her eyes for some reason.

"Always. Always, always, always."

Between each repetition of the words she kisses his eyelids, his forehead, and then his lips again.

"Even if you leave me again."

Not as if it changed anything the first time around.

It's not a secret that he's not particularly fond of his condition, not by any means. But a long time ago he realized he couldn't do anything but live with it, and he made the decision to focus on helping people, on doing something good.

And this, it's something good. It might just be the best thing to happen to him, even, and he will use any means necessary to protect it. To protect her.

He closes his eyes, chuckling at the way she peppers him with kisses at first, but then draws back at her last words, cupping her face as he looks her in the eyes.

"I'm not leaving you again. Alright? I'm not."

Something did change then, it changed for him. He's sure of his choice now like he hasn't been sure of anything before in his life.

"So don't even think things like that."

She hates being so... so needy. Hates the cold fear that twists in her gut that he might go away again because she should be stronger than that. She needs to be. She can't depend on anyone but herself and she knows that, yet this brittle feeling remains. She would go on, yes, but she cannot help but think that she would go on broken.

She blinks rapidly a few times to try and get rid of the traces of tears, smiling at him a little.

"Wow, I'm really killing the mood here."

He brushes a thumb along one of her eyes, his other hand moving up to do the same. He smiles but there's worry in his features, a faint trace of guilt to it too, as he tries to wipe away this sudden sadness from her face.

"I'm sorry."

He's said it time and again, he knows, but it's all he can offer. He knows it's his fault, after all, that the only reason she feels sad and worried and afraid that he might leave again is because he left in the first place. And he can only promise her that it won't happen again, but he should have figured it wouldn't be so easy for her to shake off the fear of that possibility.

"It's okay. I don't mind it if you want to cry a little, alright? I'm here. I'll always be here."

"Why do you have to be so damn perfect?"

For her, that is. They fit together like two pieces of a puzzle, somehow, and when they allow things to be that way everything just sort of... flows. And when Bruce lets himself be there for her the way he wants to be, he always does and says the right things somehow.

She clears her throat and shakes her head a little, shutting her eyes tightly for a moment before looking at him again.

"I'm not going to cry."

"I really am not."

He smiles a little saying that, though, knowing what she means. To an extent, at least. And saying the right thing now is about the only thing he can do to help her be a little more sure that he won't hurt her again.

The heels of his thumbs wipe across her eyes as she closes them, and he leans in to kiss over the eyelids, then her nose, letting his forehead rest against hers.

"That's alright too."

They are both kind of messed up people, really, but together they can change and grow and become parts of something that isn't messed up at all. Something healthy and good.

"Let's just make out like a couple of college kids instead."

Seems like a way better idea than crying.

It works pretty well, how they fit together and so easily fill the gaps that they're lacking, be it with respect, humor, affection, love. It's a wonderful sensation, one Bruce hasn't experienced in a long time - to feel whole again.

He chuckles at her words, smile on his lips as he nods slowly.

"Can't say I mind that idea much."

Tipping his head, he kisses her again, slow and lingering as he parts his lips just a little.

It really is very difficult to stay sad when his kisses just make her want to squirm with delight.

As she gently lets the tip of her tongue trace his bottom lip, she feels a little nervous thrill, as if she were doing it for the first time.

Perhaps it's because of all the possibilities that are open to them in this place. The things they might try.

It's been a little difficult, or impossible actually, to shake that nervous feeling itching just beneath his skin, ever since they started planning this trip, and it only increased the closer they got to this place. It's a good kind of feeling, though, even if it comes with no small amount of hesitance and concern, but he loves the excitement of knowing they're trying something new. Of what they might just accomplish here.

His lip responds by brushing up against her tongue, the tip of his own returning the gesture and tracing along her upper lip. Shifting close, he puts one arm around her, hand resting flat at the center of her back.

She uses the leg she'd wrapped over him to pull herself closer, pressing her hips against him as much as she can though the angle isn't ideal. There is just something about kissing him that always tends to make her greedy, probably because it's so lovely, and she deepens the kiss with a sigh of pleasure that ends in the hint of a tiny little moan.

Well, he wasn't exactly planning on going all in right away, but he can't say he minds that even one bit. She's always been the kind to take the lead anyway, and as always, he very much enjoys the way she presses herself closer to him, his hand sliding down to the small of her back so he can guide her along, his mouth parting in a soft gasp, deepening the kiss in the process.

Trish isn't planning anything at all at the moment, she's just going with her instincts here and her instincts all pretty much say "more Bruce" so that's what she's aiming for here.

That gasp of his does things to her and she kisses him very thoroughly until breathing becomes a necessity and she has to break away.

"Wow, can't let you be in the house for five minutes before jumping you."

Her instincts do tend to have her wrap herself around him more often than not, especially when they're kissing. Couple that with the fact they're alone in the middle of nowhere, lying down on a very comfortable bed, and they've finished unpacking and have absolutely nothing to do next, well... seems like the perfect combination.

He doesn't draw away from her, even as he regains his breath, his lips still hovering hers.

"You don't hear me complaining, do you?"

Tilting his head, he kisses along her jaw and down her neck, his hand fumbling with her shirt and sliding underneath the fabric.

She can restrain herself. Sometimes.

But not really when lying on a bed in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing pressing to do. Then the whole self control thing just becomes utterly impossible.

"No, thank god."

Because what he is doing instead of complaining is heavenly.
