I do not believe the threat was to be taken seriously. Simply a reminder that there were more people around that love you and they would be displeased to find the trust you put in me misplaced.

Recall, when he was informed of our relationship, we had already been involved exclusively for several months. Leonard was unaware during that time. From his perspective, we had recently become involved with him having no exposure to how we related or interacted with one another.

That is to say, we knew we loved one another. He did not have that luxury of data.
