[squinting his eyes at her]
Not until you apologize. And tell me I'm handsome and fashionable.
no subject
[but she's not saying the other stuff]
no subject
[and waiting]
[still waiting]
[...
fine]
Right then! On we go. [hits some buttons and pulls the lever] Next stop: Mars!
no subject
[sits back and watches him enthusiastically pull levers and push buttons]
[skips back some to go try and peek out the front window, even though she's too short]
That should be it then, yeah?
no subject
Oh, and you can open the doors, just... don't step outside. Obviously. [because they're floating in space right now]
Anyway, back in a moment! [and off he goes]
no subject
[cmon]
[bounces a little in place in anticipation. looking back for him to return and then another hop to try and see out the window]
no subject
What's that? You didn't open the doors? Come on then! [practically jumps over to where she is by the doors and opens the both of them to the sides dramatically]
[yep they are floating in space, just above--] Mars!
no subject
[she knows better by now, but sometimes opening a door in space doesn't seem like a good idea even when she knows. sort of.]
[steps to his side and ducks under one of his arms to see]
Oh my stars..
no subject
[that's the reaction. actually that's better than he'd expected]
So tell me, Clara. Would you like to step outside? [lifting the things on his shoulder a bit. up close it should be easy to tell they're chest harnesses.]
no subject
Is it safe? I mean I know it's safe in here, but going out there? What about...breathing and you know the empty void of space?
[not to doubt him, but there's something about going out into space with a harness and only a harness]
ghh sorry about that.
Besides, she's got our backs. [pats the wooden doors fondly]
Here! [hands Clara one of the harnesses, then struggles to put the other on himself]
no subject
[shuffles harness in hands to find the right way with them before getting distracted by his struggle]
You good over there?
no subject
[SUCCESS! somehow. locking the harness on the front and grabbing the end of his long strap where there's this big shiny hook]
[and locking it into the handrail]
no subject
[figures the arm straps eventually and looking for her own and then doing the same]
So.... Jump on three?
no subject
[holds her hand
waits for a moment
then grins]
-- three!! [running and jumping out that door]
no subject
[except only sort of]
[mild flailing while gripping of his hand as they drift off]
no subject
[also screaming]
[but mostly laughing]
[they're now floating in space while somehow breathing. how's that for impressive aren't you impressed clara.] We're literally in space!!
no subject
[mostly screaming, but then laughing and clinging to the doctor's hand as if that was the lifeline and not the rope]
This is...[and then she looks down at Mars. briefly distraught by the idea of plunging into it] A big planet.
no subject
And it's still smaller than Earth! I mean, if you think this is big, you should see Saturn. Or Jupiter. And that's just in this system.
[and pulling her closer in an attempted twirl] Let's dance!
no subject
[bites down a grin and reaches out for his other hand]
Is a space waltz really a waltz with no floor?
no subject
[really clara what sort of question is that. he's also holding back a grin, though]
[tightens his arm around her, then spins around in the nothingness] ... maybe I should've added some background music. Ohh, now I think of that.
no subject
Not going to start singing..or humming, are you?
no subject
[whatever, starts humming anyway. also definitely not peeking over her shoulder at that very short skirt, bless.]
no subject
[no actually this is kind of nice. His hum matches the beat of his hearts when she rests her head against his chest. Only for a moment until-
the harnesses jolt from the rope pulling tight.
Tentatively looks back]
Made it out pretty far.
no subject
[glances back at the rope as well, but they're perfectly safe as planned]
Told you. It's been tested, you see. Besides it's much more fun than wearing astronaut suits, I do have those too. I think. Or scuba diving suits. Constricting, really, and far too tight in places.
