He definitely has no ulterior motives there, and no purpose other than to make her feel good. Him telling her what to do has nothing to do with power or having some kind of control or hold on her.

His eyes drift from her to the stove, and he startles a little as he realizes he completely forgot about the eggs.

He turns off the stove immediately and lifts up the pan, gesturing to one of the cupboards.

"Get a couple of plates from there?"
