Mary echoed his sigh. While she was usually a planner, one who thought ahead, she too had been so happy that it was much easier to live in the moment than think about the future. She didn't want to think about what Jim was suggesting, but she knew that she had to.

"I've already been consorting with pirates for long enough that I'm sure I can be considered one. You are a hard man to love, Jim, but I do. I love you with everything that I have. Leaving you would be devastating, though staying..." Mary trailed off and sighed again. "I am terrified that you will be captured and hanged."

Her father could and would try to save her, would claim she was brainwashed or something, but Mary wasn't sure if life was worth living without Jim in it.
