He sighed, looking up to the ceiling. He should have expected that question to be turned around against him, but either way it wouldn't have made much of a difference. He still wouldn't have know what to answer.

"I don't know. I never thought about it." He tried especially hard not to think about it, actually. Things had been so blissfully happy that he didn't even want to know what their future would be. If they even had a future at all. "I can't exactly settle down unless it was somewhere very remote. I'm a wanted criminal, after all."

And... there was another point, which he brought up a little more reluctantly. "If you stay... you will be considered a pirate too, eventually. Even if your father wanted to protect you, he could only do it for so long." And chances were he'd take her back regardless of what she wanted given the chance, in an attempt to claim she had been kidnapped and abused. Certainly better than having people realize she had become one of them.
