Jim could understand where the concern came from, but he was glad no one stopped them anyway. Besides, he never once tried anything with Mary and he sure wasn't going to do it now, not when he'd made it his mission to have her father accept him as his daughter's fiancé, and he was so close to achieving it too.
"We're not plotting. We're just... talking. Perfectly innocent." And Jim did feel like the worst was behind them now. "And I do. I do like your father, Mary. I just hope he likes me too. At least a little bit."
