"Really? Well, now I want to try that just to see your reaction," he grinned, returning the brief kiss, his hands tightening on her when she looked at their drinks, very much unwilling to have her walk away from him. Still, he let her go as she moved to stand, and he did watch her as she walked away, a knowing smile on his face.

She was the most terrible tease, really. Jim couldn't even begin to care that other men at that bar were watching her too, because he knew she was his and his alone.

His mistake then, though, was to look away. Distracted by one of his crew mates, it was only after a few seconds that Spock himself brought what was happening to his attention— no doubt expecting a calmer reaction, but this was James T. Kirk and he should've expected no less.

Getting to his feet before he thought twice of it, he made his way over. He didn't hear what the pirate told her but it didn't matter; his hand was on her arm and he knew men like him all too well.

"She doesn't need your help," Jim said in a warning tone, blue eyes bright as he curled his fingers around the man's wrist tightly. "She can carry the drinks just fine on her own. Walk away."
